INTRODUCING MADI BROWNE, CO-FOUNDER AND DIRECTOR OF THE OCEAN CLUB. THE OCEAN CLUB - LOCATED IN MERMAID WATERS OLD, IS A TRADE & DESIGN SERVICE, BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN VISION & EXECUTION. MADI AND HER PARTNER FELT LIKE THERE WAS A GAP IN THE MARKET TO SOURCE DESIGN, TRADE SERVICES & PROJECT MANAGEMENT UNDER THE ONE ROOF. THE VISION WAS TO CREATE A SPACE WHERE YOU COULD COME IN, GAIN INSPIRATION & ALSO BE PUT IN TOUCH WITH THE RIGHT PEOPLE FOR YOUR PROJECT - AND THEY DID JUST THAT. THEIR SHOWROOM PROVIDES THE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU TO EXPERIENCE A ONE-STOP-SHOP SHOWCASING LABOUR OF TRADES, MAKERS, AND CREATIVES IN AN ARRAY OF TANGIBLE SPACES.

how long did it take to launch the ocean club?

did you have a business mentor guiding you through the journey?
we worked alongside my good friends at pland with our business plan & direction of the company we wanted to grow, we have a clear direction for the next 5 years & wouldn’t recommend anyone else. the girls are great at what they do!

how do you manage work life balance?
i like to set myself start & finish times so i can clock off to enjoy my mornings and evenings.

what do you love most about being a business owner?
freedom to set my own hours & work load.

one piece advice to someone wanting to start their own business?
it’s a journey, not a race to the finish line. you are always learning as you go and growing.
